Wollman Rink
Wollman Ice Skating Rink in Central Park
The Ice Rink, located in the southern park of Central Park, opened in 1950. Philanthropist Kate Wollman donated $600,000 to build an ice rink as a memorial to her parents and her four brothers. Constant use damaged the ice-making system in 1950, and park officials demolished the rink in 1986.
